On October 28, Rosa Gres was awarded the first Type III environmental label established in Spain, the DAPc, (Environmental Declaration of Building Products.) A pioneer in sustainability, Rosa Gres was among a select group to receive this label.
The DAPc project: effort and collaboration
The DAPc project was created and organized by a diverse group of public and private organizations: the Association of Surveyors and
Technical Architects of Barcelona, the Environment and Building Quality Departments of the Catalonian Government, Environmental Management Research Group at Pompeu Fabra University, Ascer and ITC. In addition, eight private companies participated in the initiative, making an important investment in the future of sustainable construction.
Rosa Gres was among the firms taking part in the pilot project, which seeks to make an important impact on industry. To attain certification, Rosa Gres had to carefully follow the established protocol to success. We now know how possible it is to make construction more coherent and sustainable, one of the key objectives of the DAPc project.
DAPc benefits: present and future
With the DAPc, the manufacturing process analysis take into account the life cycle of a product, that is, its detailed impact on the environment.
The certification marks an important step toward integrating industry with the environment. The DAPc will also help drive the market toward more sustainable products. What's more, in the long-term future, the environmental benefits of the DAPc will further strengthen the competitive advantage of eco-committed manufacturers. The new label provides short-term benefits since the environment is a concern that is already embedded in the entrepreneurial spirit of today's companies.
For Rosa Gres, being a pioneer in sustainability is a constant source of motivation. Because we love what we do and we know where we
are - big or small, planet Earth.
